Home equity is where the majority of us in the U.S. have most of our wealth. 75% of the net worth of seniors on a national level is the equity in their homes.
One issue many of us have though is, “How Do I Access My Housing Wealth
When Needed”, especially without creating a taxable event?
One of the most underutilized financial strategies in the U.S. involves
using an FHA Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) to either purchase a
new home or refinance your existing home and then being able to monetize
equity in a property and plug it into a proper retirement strategy.
If you are using it to purchase a new home you can buy a property for
approximately 50%-65% down. It significantly increases your buying
power.
No principal or interest payments are required as long as you live in
the home.
You get the same principal and interest payments as if you had paid
cash (Zero), but you get to free up and keep or invest the rest of your
equity.
With the proper strategy you can develop very favorable tax
advantages, increase your liquidity, and maintain a better standard of
living in retirement.
